Jill Greaves Design is a Full Service Design and Procurement Studio. We offer design, furniture and styling services. We work closely with our clients to bring out the results they want in their homes, commercial and hospitality environments.

Our phases and scope include the following (with some modifications for residential vs. commercial clients):

1. Design and Planning

This is when we start to understand the details of your home or business spaces, your goals and how the workings of your everyday happen for you. Our process can be broken down into the following phases:

• Discovery and Research - In our phase of discovery we might measure and collect existing plans, drawings and ideas and bring this information together with research on current trends and updated technologies, as well as your location, siting, sun and weather related elements. We would also look at general budget and any constraints that might have an effect on the design. Building permits and regulations can be part of this phase as well.
• Concept Design - Our time to review and create! This is the phase when we do the majority of our high level creative thought and bring together the various spatial, style and personal or business goals to develop a concept for what we are doing and how this may manifest itself in your project. At this point we typically have a Concept Presentation for Client Approval so we can be sure that we are on the right path and that you understand our ideation and creative path and what that means to you.
• Design Development - Once we have your approval of our concept we spring into action on the Design Development phase. This includes detailed planning, layouts and coordination with architects and engineers when necessary. We also talk to contractors and our suppliers to develop best design outcomes with lead times, construction constraints and other considerations in mind. You will see more detailed plans, elevations and ceiling plans in this phase. You will also see the beginnings of furniture and finishes selections and the budget as a whole will start to take shape.
• Construction and Millwork Drawings - Once we review the Design Development with you and have your approval we proceed with the heavy duty drawings and coordination with trades and consultants. We produce a set of drawings that can be built from including dimensions, details, finishes and all the elements required to build your project perfectly. We review the drawings of other consultants, coordinate locations of lights, heating and other elements. One of our goals in this phase is to have a complete costing set so we can fully budget the project when we are finished.
• Finishes and Furniture Selection - This selection phase happens concurrently with the construction and millwork drawings. The finishes form a large part of the overall budget and look of your project and the part they play in the finished product can't be over-emphasized! The difference between a coastal them cottage and a sophisticated city home has a lot (but not all!) to do with the finishes chosen.
• Schedules & Specifications - This phase happens concurrently with the construction and millwork drawings as well. The specific details of the faucets, tiles, lighting specifications etc all have to be shown on the drawings. All the parts and piece work together to build an encyclopedia of your new home or commercial project.

2. Budget

While we have to keep project budgets in mind through the whole project, this is the time when we are able to bring all of our design work to the market and get costing. We are able to do this with a complete design and specifications package.

Project timelines vary depending on the scale of your project. A full service design project can take as little as several months or even up to several years. We also offer consultations should you wish to ask questions or get some advice on a smaller project.

Our process of a Full Service Design package consists of three phases: Conceptual Design, Detailed Design and Purchasing & Execution. The Conceptual Design phase exists to confirm your scope, layout, investment estimate and aesthetic direction. The Design Phase is what turns your ideas into a reality whereas Purchasing & Execution is the process of placing orders with vendors and organising trades. We will also oversee and coordinate deliveries.
